Every time I hear "These days, kids have facebook and twitter! In my day we had coloring books and imagination!" I think two things together.
First: Stop pretending like you wouldn't have used twitter, facebook, and so on if it was available when you were a kid. Quite bullshitting us, please. Just... stop. You have no superiority in this situation. And if I may, you are one step away from some moronic statement like "In my day, we made our own fun." at which point I will throw a vintage NES at your head*. Besides, the coloring books you had were of licensed properties because you were marketed to within an inch of your life like everyone else raised after 1965.
But then, the second, more succinct thought rolls in...
It's a poor artist that blames their tools.
*Or a 2600 if you're slightly older.
