Oh goodie! The children in this cartoon are pretending to be Indians. They are doing this by wearing their normal clothes plus a headband with a feather in it. Cultural sensitivity demands we call them “Native Americans” but doesn’t require that we stop boiling their entire way of life down to a piece of headgear. So that's how that works, which is good to know.
I'd say I'm ashamed to be a honkey right now, but as my feelings on Thanksgiving are mixed to begin with, I'm pretty sure that can be taken as read.
